Winscombe Court

Welcome to the Winscombe Court Website

Winscombe Court has been recently refurbished retaining many original features but combining them with modern facilities to offer truly exceptional country house style.

The house is predominately Gothic Victorian, and it is full of interesting characteristics. It is located close to the beautiful church of St James, which is steeped in history. The well known yew tree in its grounds dates back to the Doomsday Book. Stories in the village abound about a secret passage to the church but we have not found it yet! It is possible to walk almost immediately straight on to National Trust land from the house.

We are in the older part of Winscombe but still within 20 minutes walking distance of the local village shops. The local pub is situated by the shops and is privately owned. It has an excellent separate restaurant area, which is popular with all ages.  Winscombe is within easy travelling distance of the following; The Cheddar Gorge, Wells ( Wonderful Saturday market and Cathedral),Bristol ( New Dock area and @ Bristol), Bath ( Spa and Abbey),Glastonbury( Abbey and Tor) , Dunster ( Railway and Beach), Weston-super-Mare and Brean Sands (15/25 minutes by car). The nearest British Rail Stations are at Yatton and at Weston-super-Mare .
